About

Made for one 12‑year‑old, now shared.

Kiwi Type is a calm touch-typing course for children and grown-ups. Here is who makes it, and why.

Why I built it

I noticed my 12-year-old typing with two fingers and a thumb, staring at the keyboard the whole time. I wanted her to learn properly, in small steps, so I built Kiwi Type for her.

She liked it so much that she shared it with her friends. They are now on their typing journey together.

Kiwi Type is made by a small, independent team, and we build it first for families and schools in Australia and New Zealand.

What we believe

  • Typing is learned in small, clean steps, so lessons use real words from the start.
  • Accuracy comes first. Speed follows.
  • No ads, no countdowns and no chat. Stars and medals reward careful typing, and streaks come with rest days.

Accessibility today

  • Choose "Always reduce motion" in Settings, under Motion and look, or let it follow your device.
  • Controls show a focus ring when you use the keyboard.
  • Sound effects and music can each be turned off, and a mute button on the lesson screen turns everything off with one click.
  • We have not had an accessibility audit yet.
